May 30 2007 - Wrongful death lawsuit filed in St. Louis Cardinal pitcher's fatal crash
The father of the late St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock has filed a lawsuit against the restaurant where Hancock had been drinking before his fatal car crash.
The lawsuit wants more than $25,000 from Mike Shannon's Steaks and Seafood. It also is asking for damages from the owner and driver of the tow truck that Hancock hit, and the driver of a car that the wrecker was removing from the roadway.
Police investigators show Hancock was drunk, driving 68 in a 55-mile-an-hour zone, and talking on his cell phone when he hit the back of the tow truck.
The lawsuit says Hancock regularly became drunk at Shannon's restaurant...It also says that Hancock's drunkenness that night was involuntary.
